AMATEUR actors from a play in Brentwood have been left very pleased with the quality of free meals given to them by volunteers.
Brentwood Theatre’s production team, behind the Plotters of Cabbage Patch Corner, put out a cry for people to volunteer to give the cast and crew hot meals during rehearsals and performances.
A number of people came forward. Former amateur actor Danny Kingston provided some meals including a vegetarian lasagne.
The Brentwood School also gave vouchers to use at the school’s canteen.
Co-producer Mark Reed said the standard has really “spoiled” the cast this year.
Mr Reed said: “We have been really lucky this year and had some good offers from top cooks. In some ways it has become a bit of a battle of the gourmets.”
