A MAN has admitted to causing grievous bodily harm after a car crash which left a cyclist with severe injuries.

Ben Lowe, 20, of Stock Lane, Ingatestone, pleaded guilty at Basildon Crown Court to charges of grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking and driving without insurance, over an incident in Station Lane, Ingatestone.

Lowe collided with cyclist Andrew Horner, 35, from Brentwood, in a Ford Transit van which left the victim with life-changing injuries.

A 17-year-old girl from Surrey has been acquitted of grievous bodily harm and aggravated vehicle taking over the same incident.

Lowe has been remanded in custody to await sentencing at a yet to be fixed date.
