TWO Olympic hopefuls passed on their skills and pearls of wisdom to sporty school children.
A group of lucky Year 7 students at Shenfield High School, in Alexander Lane, had the opportunity to spend the afternoon with Jane Mayes and Jeanett Andersen who hope to represent Great Britain at the London 2012 Olympics.
The pair took time out of their busy preparations to visit the school as part of the Handball Challenge project.
The GB handballers offered the group of Gifted and Talented Shenfield students an insight into the life of a professional athlete and tips on what it takes to make it to the very top in sport.
After a question and answer session, the handballers moved on to giving the students a handball coaching session, as well as providing the school with gifts and memorabilia.
Shenfield High School was chosen because of its role in promoting both mainstream and emerging sports opportunities to all of its students.
School games organiser Mike Naylor, said: “Having a visit from two athletes who hope to represent Great Britain at the world’s biggest sporting spectacle in less than two months was truly inspiring.”
