Philharmonic on board for concert project

A WORLD famous orchestra has launched a musical education project in Brentwood to celebrate the Olympics.

As part of the borough’s cultural celebrations for London 2012, Bright Sparks has started this month in conjunction with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

The project will bring professional orchestral music to residents through presentations and workshops for adults, Brentwood’s Orchestras for Young Musicians and youngsters from local schools.

Musicians from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will take the workshops, which will be used to write an original piece of collaborative music.

It will then have its debut performance with the orchestra musicians at the Gone Global event on Sunday, July 1, at the Brentwood Centre.

Councillor Mark Reed said: “The Bright Sparks project has allowed orchestral music to be accessible and fun.”
