Primrose Hill
WITH a UK tour under way, a modelling contract in the pipeline and a pop single about to hit the charts, a Billericay schoolgirl is on her way to becoming the next big star.
She may only be 15, but music moguls are already predicting big things for stunning Meisha Kelly.
Meisha is part of all girl band Primrose Hill which has been snapped up by Safe Management’s Chris Herbert, who founded the Spice Girls and the nineties boyband 5ive.
As well as Meisha, the group, described as a “contemporary TLC” is made up of Rhiannon Obinyah and Evangeline Craddock, both from London. The trio have been friends for years.
Their first single, Candy Rain, is set to be released on iTunes in September after the girls spent the last four years honing their style and waiting for the right time to launch.
They have co-written most of their songs, which have a “poppy R&B” sound, and will be performing at several gigs this summer, including at Liquid nightclub in Romford in July.
Meisha, who lives off High Street, Billericay and is studying for her GCSEs at the Brentwood Ursuline Convent High School in Queen’s Road, said: “It’s an incredibly exciting time.
“We are working hard performing in clubs and venues across the UK. We know we have to put in the hard work.
“Right from the start we decided we didn’t want to go down the X Factor route.
“We have been together for four years and if we make it we’ll know we have deserved it.”
Meisha’s bandmates often come down to Billericay to see her.
She said: “We like to go bowling at Festival Leisure Park and also we like to go for walks in Lake Meadows.”
Meisha says she appreciates all types of music, but she admires one pop starlet in particular.
She said: “I really like Taylor Swift as not only is her music good but she’s a great role model.”
