Repair work starts on war memorial

WORK has begun to restore and repair Brentwood’s war memorial.
As part of the work, contractors will make templates of the existing stonework to enable Brentwood Council to complete its renovation of the memorial, at the junction of Shenfield Road and Middleton Hall Lane.
The restoration of the memorial started in 2010 when work was carried out on the memorial cross.
The roots of the palm trees in the planters around the memorial have now started to break up the stonework.
As a result council contractors will remove the trees to avoid any more damage being caused.
