AN animal petting day has helped raise money for a children’s charity.

The event, at Old MacDonald’s Farm, South Weald, was held at the end of last month and £102 was raised for the Children’s Trust.

The charity provides care and therapy for children with complex health needs and a rehabilitation service for children with an acquired brain injury.

Alby Dobinson, 17, of Romford, helped during the day and collected donations for the trust, where he received rehabilitation after a road accident in 2008.

Barnie the Bear mascot from the trust chatted with youngsters and volunteers also provided face painting, games and a lucky dip.
