Golf day raises cash for trampoline club
8:00am Saturday 8th September 2012 in News
A POPULAR trampoline club has organised a charity golf day to raise cash for new equipment.
Martin Peters MBE, West Ham legend and World Cup winner, is set to take part in the event at Stock Brook golf club, in Billericay.
The golf day is being held to help raise money for the Recoil Twisters Trampoline Club which is based in Keys Hall in Warley.
The aim is to raise as much cash as possible which will help the club buy specialist equipment for its sensory activity room which will be used by adults and children with disabilities.
Tricia Sharpe, who runs the group, said: “We are aiming to open the new room in October and most of what we have done already has been thanks to a donation from last year’s mayor Joan Holmes.
“We are keen to raise more funds to help pay for a special hoist that will help people with complex disabilities out of their wheelchairs. The money will also be used for other equipment in the room. It will be fantastic.”
Mr Peters has been patron of the charity for nine years and the golf tournament is an annual event which usually attracts other football legends, for example last year Trevor Brooking took to the tee.
The team event will be held on September 17 and will tee off at 12.30pm, after an 11.30am meet for a hearty brunch.
There will be a three course dinner, a raffle, an auction and prize giving after the golf.
The cost to enter is £90 per person and it will be the last golf day the charity holds with Mr Peters as he is set to devote more of his time to another Essex charity.
There is also the opportunity to sponsor a tee from just £100.
