Woman trapped between car and wall after crash

A WOMAN was left with a suspected leg fracture and pelvic injuries after becoming trapped between a car and a wall.

At about 5.10pm on September 19, a silver BMW collided with a parked red Honda Civic in Post Office Road, Ingatestone.

As a result of the crash, a female in her 20s from the Basildon area who was walking past at the time of the incident was hit by the vehicles and became trapped between a nearby wall and the Honda.

Once the woman was freed from the wreckage she was treated for injuries, which have been described as “serious”, at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford.

Lorna Marsh, spokeswoman for East of England Ambulance service, said: “Paramedics gave pain relief on scene and stabilised the woman before taking her to Broomfield Hospital for a suspected fractured thigh bone and possible pelvic injuries.

“She was in collision with a car and ended up squashed between it and a wall.

“While the injuries were nasty they were not critical.”

Police officers had to close off the road until 9pm while the scene was cleared which included the removal of both cars and initial investigation work being conducted.

The temporary closure of the road caused traffic to move slowly through the area.

No arrests have been made so far, however Essex Police are appealing for eye-witnesses of the crash to come forward as investigations are continuing.

Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to call officers at the Chigwell road policing unit on 101.
