BRENTWOOD and Ongar MP Eric Pickles is backing a cancer charity campaign urging people to wear pink next month.

The Conservative MP is supporting the Breast Cancer Campaign’s Wear It Pink day, on October 26 which will encourage people to don pink clothing to fundraise for the charity.

The annual event now in its tenth year has a superhero theme for 2012 with anyone who does wear a pink item of clothing being asked to donate £2.

Mr Pickles said he wants as many constituents to participate in the colourful day as it is for a worthy cause.

He said: “Every year in the UK, around 48,000 women and 340 men are diagnosed with breast cancer.

“This is why we all need to support wear it pink day on 26 October, so that Breast Cancer Campaign can continue to fund research which will one day lead to a cure.”
