Van stolen from driver at knifepoint

A VAN driver had a knife pointed at him before robbers stole his vehicle in broad daylight.

At about 2.45pm, on October 9, the driver, from Chelmsford, was making deliveries in Ashford Avenue, Brentwood, when he was approached by two men.

One of them pulled out a knife while making threats, before the pair jumped into the Ford Transit van which contained a mobile phone, sat nav and parcels waiting to be delivered.

The victim was “shaken but uninjured” and the vehicle was found the following day in Milton Road, Warley.

Police are now appealing for witnesses.

Dc Matt Wigg said: “I would like to hear from anyone who was in Ashford Avenue and saw the men hanging around, or witnessed the robbery.”

The robbers are described as being in their twenties or thirties and white. One wore a brown, woolly hat, brown T-shirt and jeans while the other had ginger hair and wore jeans and a T-shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101.
