A MAN has admitted driving a stolen van 50 miles the wrong way along the M11.

Ryan Nee, 19, took a white Transit van from a Billericay home in Stock Road at about 1.40am on May 21.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle when they spotted it near Ongar, but Nee fled towards Hastingwood and joined the M11 on the wrong side. He was eventually stopped at Godmanchester in Cambridgeshire.

He appeared at Basildon Crown Court via videolink where he admitted one count of burglary, theft, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.

The court heard Nee claims he was the look-out for the burglary and did not go into the home.

It was suggested he would be tried under the joint enterprise rule as he knew the burglary was taking place.

Nee, of Harebell Way, Romford, was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on September 22.
