Police are investigating a serious assault which took place inside an off licence at the Laindon Centre in Laindon.
A 34-year-old man from Laindon received cuts and bruises to his face, arms and shins following the incident inside the Pints and Litres store on Saturday, September 6. It happened at around 7.20pm.
Five men went into the store at the same time as the victim. One of the men and the victim both went to the fridge at the same time and an argument broke out. The five men attacked the victim, knocking over the woman shop assistant. The fight then carried on outside using bottles and a monkey wrench which was removed from a blue Peugeot 206 which the men arrived in.
The 46-year-old shop assistant suffered bruises to her head and right arm.
Investigating Officer Dc Angela Tappin, of Basildon CID, said: "This appears to have been an unprovoked attack where a woman was pushed over and badly bruised so the suspects could get to the man who was assaulted. He received a nasty head injury.”
Officers have released some CCTV images taken from the store in a bid to try and identify some of the men.
Anybody who recognises them is asked to contact Dc Angela Tappin at Basildon CID on Essex Police 101 or they can leave information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
