THUGS got away with hundreds of pounds of jewellery and electricals during a vicious two hour robbery spree.

A man needed hospital treatment and a woman was indecently assaulted during the horrific attacks that took place in Luncies Road, Pitsea and Upper Mayne, Basildon in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Detectives believe the three assaults were all committed by the same gang and are appealing for the public’s help to catch them.

The first robbery happened in Upper Mayne at about 12.30am when a man and woman were approached by three young men who started assaulting them.

The woman, aged in her fifties was struck in the face but managed to smack her attacker in the head.

The gang then assaulted the pair and took their mobile phones.

The male victim later needed hospital treatment.

The second attack happened at about 2am in Luncies Road, near the church, when a man and a woman, both in their 20s, were robbed and assaulted by three young men.

They took the pair’s iPhones worth £500 each and the man’s watch, worth £110.

The man was punched in the face and head several times and the woman was indecently assaulted.

The third robbery was also in Luncies Road at about 2.30am when a man in his 20s was approached by four men.

One of them punched him in the face.

The victim tried to run but was tripped over by one suspect and held down while he was robbed of a £200 iPhone.

In all three incidents one or two white men and two black men were involved.

All were aged between 16 and 20 and all were about 6ft tall.

All were wearing dark clothing and hooded tops pulled around their faces.
