A SHOPLIFTER who stole DVDs and cleaning products has been jailed for six months.
Jason Shaw, 36, of Lincoln Road, Laindon pleaded guilty to two counts of shoplifting in Basildon.
Shaw stole 12 DVDs and Bluray discs on October 31 2013 from HMV in Eastgate, Basildon with a female accomplice.
The DVDs, worth £247, were found in a nearby bush.
In a second incident, Shaw and a woman stole £40 worth of cleaning products from Home Bargains in Westgate, Basildon on February 3.
Basildon Crown Court heard, Shaw and the woman hid the products in their clothing and then paid for drinks at the till before making off.
A PCSO caught the pair.
Shaw was also found to be in breach of a community order and the court heard his shoplifting stemmed from a drug problem.
Recorder Elroy Claxton sentenced Shaw to six months in prison for each shoplifting offence to run concurrently and also issued a community order with 12 months supervision.
