A MAN posing as a police officer tricked his way into an elderly man’s home and stole £100.
The theft happened on Tuesday, December 30 when the man went to the door of a house in Small Gains Lane in Stock and told the elderly occupant that he was a police officer and needed to search the house.
He left the house after stealing the homeowner’s bag.
The incident is being linked to another burglary in Short Lane, Ramsden Heath on the same day, between 2pm and 2.30pm.
A suspect snuck in to the house through an unlocked door and demanded money.
He left the home empty-handed.
On both occasions the suspect is described as white and aged in his 30s.
Police are keen to speak to anybody who witnessed suspicious activity in the area at the time.
