Two men were arrested and items of jewellery were recovered following a burglary at a house in Brackendale Avenue, Pitsea.
Officers were called to the address after members of the public called in to say two men were seen using a crowbar to break in.
This was just before 1pm on Thursday, March 12.
Police went to the scene and following a short chase on foot, arrested the two males, recovered the jewellery that had been taken and found a crowbar.
A 16-year-old boy from Wickford was arrested in Brackendale Court on suspicion of burglary. He is being questioned by officers at Basildon Police Station.
A 21-year-old man from Braintree was also arrested near the Aldi car park in Pitsea. This was also on suspicion of burglary.
He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries until Friday, June 5.
