AMERICAN students and teachers paid a visit to Billericay and learned about life in an English school.
Four students, aged 16 and 17, and two teachers from a school in Fishers, Indiana – which is twinned with Billericay – took part in a week-long exchange visit.
They spent one day at the Mayflower school and one day at Billericay school, and enjoyed a typical day observing lessons and getting involved.
Four host families from Billericay who put up the students also showed them around, and treated them to a meal at traditional pub, the Hoop on Stock Road, as well as a relaxing river cruise on Papermill Lock, near Chelmsford.
The visitors also spent a day in London.
A return visit has been scheduled for October, when youngsters and teachers from the two Billericay schools will get a slice of Indiana life.
Marion Wilson, town councillor and chair of the Billericay Twinning Association, said: “They all had a wonderful time, finding out how things work over here.
“Everyone is now looking forward to the return visit.”
