POP megastar Beyonce has been confirmed as the headline act for this year’s V Festival in Chelmsford.

The 31-year-old singer who wowed the world with her performance at the Super Bowl Half Time Show earlier this month is set to hit the stage at Hylands Park in August.

Number one hits from the singer who has sold 75 million records worldwide as a solo artist include If I Were A Boy, Deja Vu and Crazy In Love, the latter two both featuring her rapper husband Jay-Z.

Alongside the former Destiny’s Child singer, whose upcoming solo tour sold out in just ten minutes, will be American rock band Kings Of Leon who will be the other main headline act for the event which takes place on August 17 and 18.

British acts such as The Vaccines and Emeli Sande will also appear, with festival director Simon Moran said the artists coming this year will help the weekend be a spectacular event.

Mr Moran said: “With our line-up already boasting acts including Beyonce, Kings Of Leon and Emeli Sandé the 18th annual V Festival is once again set to be an unmissable weekend.

“We have a reputation for bringing fans the best world class acts and breakthrough artists, 2013 is set to be another sensational year.”

Also on the bill for the festival which is split between Chelmsford and Weston Park, in Staffordshire, are The Script, Jessie J, Rita Ora and X Factor winner James Arthur.

More acts are set to unveiled for the two-day event over the next few weeks.

Previous headliners have included Coldplay, Radiohead, Oasis and Arctic Monkeys.

Tickets go on general sale at 9am on Friday from www.vfestival.com.

Some people will be able to buy tickets before Friday as a pre-sale opens tomorrow morning while Chelmsford residents will be able to purchase them from Thursday morning.
