Witness appeal after cyclist in their 70s was seriously injured in collision with a car

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a road accident in Chelmsford which left a cyclist in his 70s with serious head and shoulder injuries.

The collision happened at around 4.30pm on Wednesday, September 3 in Chelmer Road at the junction with Sandford Road. The cyclist was riding a Giant red bicycle. A red Fiat Panda was also involved in the collision.

The cyclist, who lives in the local area, was taken to Broomfield Hospital by ambulance, and has since been transferred to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, where he remains in a stable condition.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Pc Natacha Hasler at the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on Essex Police 101, or they can email collisionappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk and quote incident number 0759 of September 3 2014.
