YOUNG people from across Essex have restored a long-neglected mortar emplacement, originally used by the Home Guard in Chelmsford during the Second World War.
The excavation of the spigot mortar site in the grounds of Moulsham Mill was a key element of a ‘Young Roots’ heritage project, run by charity Inter Act, with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Members of the public are now being invited to visit the site during the Heritage Open Days from today (Thursday) to Saturday.
