A CHELMSFORD training company wants to change the way nursery staff are taught first aid.
Endeavour UK, based in Duke Street, delivers a variety of courses throughout Essex and London and feels strongly that all nurseries should have all their staff trained to the national level of paediatric first aid, as opposed to the minimum of just two per nursery.
To get the message across, the company offered a free two-day, Level 3 Paediatric First Aid session to staff at the Buttercup Nursery, inWatchouse Road, and is now looking to provide similar nonprofit training to other schools and nurseries.
Chris Lucas-Jones, managing director of Endeavour UK, said: “I personally feel very strongly that such training is essential in ensuring adequate child care and safety standards for children are maintained, as well as providing increased peace of mind for parents.
“This is why we are assisting in delivering this training to any school or nursery in Essex that would like it, all on a non-profit basis.”
The nursery’s principal, Natasha Taylor, said the session had doubled the number of staff now trained up to 16.
She added: “It is absolutely essential that the minimum number of first aid paediatrics within a setting should be raised.”
Mayor Rob Villa also paid a visit on the day, and was impressed by the company’s attitude.
He said: “It is extremely inspiring to see the tremendous amount of thought and actions devoted to health and safety of these babies and young children.”
