CHELMSFORD Cathedral will host an exhibition of artwork by inmates at Chelmsford Prison as part of the national Prisons Week initiative.
About 40 prisoners have been involved in the project over the last few months, producing artwork on the theme of change and moving forward. The pieces include paintings, drawings and collages, many of which feature the inmates’ own experiences.
Prison chaplain, the Rev James Ridge, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to build on our links with the cathedral and present a side of prison life that many never get to see.
“The project, which has been led by our counselling service, gives prisoners the chance to use art as an opportunity for selfexpression.”
Many of the prisoners have also written about their work and this will displayed alongside the art.
The displaywill run fromSunday to November 22.
