Most of us look forward to putting up our Christmas trees and marking the beginning of the festive season.

But, come January, taking it down and disposing of it can feel like a real drag.

This doesn’t necessarily need to be the case this time round though, because Farleigh Hospice has it covered.

If you live in anywhere in the CM1 and CM2 postcode areas, or in CM3 1 – CM3 4, then you can book online right now and let Farleigh Hospice collect and recycle your tree when the festivities are over, in return for a small donation towards our caring work.

Visit www.farleighhospice.org/treerecycling now and turn those January blues into something positive for a very worthwhile local cause!

In association with Just Helping and a little help from some lovely volunteers and local businesses, on the weekend of January 10 and 11, for the very first time, Farleigh Hospice is offering a Christmas tree recycling service.

Just leave your tree outside the house somewhere  if you’re not going to be in (you can specify when you book) and we’ll pop by, collect it and dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way for you.

Fundraising Manger, Sarah Williamson, explains, “We are delighted to be working with Just Helping and to be trying this new initiative.

"We are also extremely grateful to all the very generous businesses and volunteers who are giving up their time for us during these 2 days in January.

"We feel this is a unique chance for us to provide a great service to members of our community, and at the same time raise vital money for those affected by life limiting illnesses.

"We’re hoping it will be a great success!

“Throwing away the Christmas tree can be a bit sad, but with this scheme people can rest assured that they are doing a great thing and helping to provide essential care and support for local people affected by cancer and other life limiting illnesses.

"We are asking for a minimum donation of £5 per tree, with at least 80% of the proceeds coming directly to Farleigh Hospice.

"However, if you are able to, please feel free to give more than £5, as it will go a long way in helping us to provide our important services to patients and families in the year ahead.”
