A road has been closed following a serious road traffic collision.

Two vehicles, a green Peugeot 206 and a black Jaguar X-type, were in collision at the junction of Main Road and Jubilee Avenue at around 2.30pm today.

The driver of the Peugeot, a 60-year-old man from the Chelmsford area, has been taken to the Royal London Hospital by ambulance with serious life-threatening injuries.

Main Road is currently closed from its junction with White Meads to the hospital roundabout. Motorists are advised this closure is likely to be in place for at least another two hours.
