Great Baddow High School ‘Makes the World Better with a Sweater’ on Christmas Jumper Day Date of Issue: 15th December 2014 Date of Release: 15th December 2014

Staff and Sixth Form students helped to "make the world better with a sweater" by donating to charity to wearing their Christmas jumpers.

Great Baddow High School, where pupils also paid a donation to wear non-uniform, took part in the national Christmas Jumper day and managed to raise £1,250 for various charities including Great Ormond Street Hospital, The J’s Hospice, CHESS, The Alzheimer’s Society and Essex Air Ambulance.

Felicity Butcher, mother of one of the staff members, has been knitting for over 50 years and made a range of jumpers for the event which were so well liked she has now started taking orders for next year; she even knitted a tie for the day too!

Some of the teachers had really taken the appeal to their hearts and have been wearing their Christmas jumpers for the last few weeks to get the students and staff into the festive spirit!

To support the event, the School Council also planned the additional non-uniform day and designed posters for around the school and encouraged students across all the year groups to get involved.
