A school volleyball squad have qualified for the finals of a national competition.

The Boswells School Under-18 squad qualified with a resounding series of victories at the qualifying tournament at the weekend.

The boys came through some tough games including defeating favourites and arch rivals Wessex in one of the group games 2-0.

In a nervous semi-final Boswells beat Ernest Bevin School from London 2-0 and will play Wessex again in the final in March.

PE teacher and coach Darren Lewis said: “The team performed superbly throughout the tournament and showed great consistency and quality throughout the day to go undefeated and not to concede a set.

“We are the national champions in this age range and it is great we are going to be competing in March to see if we can make it four years in a row.

“The Boswells students never fail to surprise me with their resilience.

“A number of boys were playing with niggling injuries and one of our players was missing as a result of surgery earlier in the week however they played amazingly well as a squad winning all of their group games.

“I am really looking forward to March 29 when the team go to Kettering to defend the title they have won for the last three years. I have every confidence in the boys.”
