A hospice is calling for more people to use their pedal power to help them raise money to continue their vital work.

The J's Hospice will be holding it's fundraising cycling event Pedal for the J's on May 3.

There are still places available and the hospice is inviting more people and local businesses to enter a team, for a fun day of team building, friendly competition and fundraising for the hospice, which provides care, respite and support to young adults with life limiting conditions and life threatening illnesses.

An enthusiastic team of 16 from Beaulieu, of the housing development on the outskirts of Chelmsford, has joined forces with Countryside, the joint developer behind the building scheme with L&Q, who have confirmed they will match the amount the Beaulieu team raises.

Beaulieu team training has already begun and they are looking forward to the challenge.

Andrew Carrington, Managing Director of Strategic Land at Countryside said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring this year’s Pedal for The J’s and our team of keen cyclists are training hard and getting quite competitive.

"They have raised an impressive amount so far, and we are pleased to match their total to give them that extra bit of encouragement.

“The Pedal for J’s is a great community event that not only encourages everyone to get fit and healthy, but most importantly helps raise money to support The J’s Hospice.

"The work they do to help young adults in need of hospice care is invaluable, and we are proud to be continuing our support with our sponsorship of the Chelmsford Marathon later in the year.”

The ride, which has 15, 35 or 50 mile routes, starts and finishes at Admirals Park in Chelmsford, with the 15 mile route taking in Mashbury, Pleshey and Great Waltham, and the longer ones travelling west towards Hatfield Heath, returning through the Easters then all three rides join up at Pleshey.

Teams can register to take part in Pedal for the J’s online by visiting www.thejshospice.org.uk or call the office on 01245 475474 to request a registration form.

Registration starts at just £14 per person, and this includes refreshments.
