A MAN has been charged with eight burglaries after allegedly posing as a policeman to con elderly people out of thousands of pounds.
Elijah King, 31, unemployed, of Meadow Lane, Wickford, was charged with burglaries in Friern Gardens in Wickford, Southend Road in Wickford, Belchamps Road in Wickford, Third Avenue in Wickford, Short Lane in Wickford, Maldon Road in Margaretting, Oxney Mead in Writtle, and The Gardens, Doddinghurst.
The burglaries took place between Tuesday, March 3, and Sunday, April 5.
He is due to appear at court at a later date.
Essex Police would urge anyone who has information or has been a victim of burglary to call DCI Jon Burgess on 101, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
