A woman remains in critical condition after being found with serious injuries after falling from the High Chelmer multi-storey car park.

The woman was found in Victoria Road at about 5.50pm last night.

An ambulance was at the scene within two minutes and Herts Air Ambulance, an ambulance officer and a rapid response vehicle also attended.

The East of England Ambulance Service have said the woman they treated is in her 20s but Essex Police said they believe her to be in her 40s.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "Police were called at around 5.50pm yesterday to reports of a woman found in Victoria Road, Chelmsford, with injuries consistant with a fall from a height.

"Officers and the air ambulance attended and a woman in her 40s was taken to the Royal London Hospital with serious injuries.

"She remain in hospital in critical condition.

"It is not believed there are any suspicious circumstances."
