Volunteers fought back against litterbugs collecting 25 bags of rubbish during a community event.
The litter pick, organised by Chelmsford City Council, took place in several areas of South Woodham Ferrers, including Scholars Walk, Cutlers Road Industrial Estate and Bancroft Industrial Estate, as part of the new Neighbourhood Improvement & Community Engagement programme.
This aims to encourage local residents and organisations to get involved in improving the environmental quality of their neighbourhood. Fifteen volunteers took part and collected 25 bags of litter, a tyre, a frame of an old road sign and a cone.
The council was delighted to see residents volunteer to tidy up a part of their neighbourhood and as a thank you provided free refreshments to all of the hard working volunteers after the event.
