The father of murdered teenager Ashley Woolley had arranged to meet his son for a drink on the day he was murdered.

Sadly Ashley, who lived with his mother, Maria Woolley, was killed just hours before he was due to see his father.

Mr Woolley said: “I’d been on at him for weeks to get his driving licence sorted as I was going to get him the licence and driving lessons for his birthday and for Christmas, so I had the application form in my bag.

“He had got the ID photo signed off, so I was going to bring him the form for him to sign so I could send it off in time for his birthday and get him the driving lesson vouchers for Christmas.

“When I got the list of his possessions through from the police, there was a completed application form, which he must have been bringing to me that night.

“It’s so upsetting to think that actually, after being on his case for all that time, that he had actually done it.”

Mr Woolley, who is still devastated that he was robbed of the chance to see his son again, added: “In my mind, I’m still waiting to meet Ashley for that drink.

“I’ll probably always be waiting.”
