A young woman was rescued by police after she climbed to the top of the Meadows multi-storey car park in Chelmsford.

The woman, in her 20s, was helped from the car park in Wharf Road by police officers after reports of concern for her safety were made just afteer 2.45pm on Friday.

She was seen sitting on the edge of the roof of the car park before she was helped by police shortly before 4pm and was placed in the care of appropriate health professionals.

An East of England Ambulance Service Trust spokesman said: "We were called to an incident on Springfield Road, Chelmsford at 2.33pm on Friday, June 19.

"An ambulance and an ambulance officer attended and helped a woman in her 20s.

"She was taken to Broomfield Hospital for further care."
