Two people have been rushed to hospital after a five-vehicle crash on Brentwood Road between Orsett and Bulphan this afternoon.
Four cars and a van collided, trapping a woman, who had to be cut free by fire crews from Orsett and Grays.
Two people were left with back and neck injuries and were taken by ambulance to Basildon Hospital.
East of England Ambulance Service Trust confirmed none of the injuries were life-threatening or serious.
The incident happened at about 3pm on Brentwood Road between Orsett and Bulphan. The woman had been cut free by 3.52pm.
East Essex Ambulance Service said: "We were called to Brentwood Road to a road traffic collision and sent a rapid response vehicle, two ambulance crews, an ambulance officer and the Essex air ambulance."
"It was a collision between four cars and a van and a woman was trapped in a vehicle while others were described as walking wounded, with head and back injuries but walking around.
"Two patients were taken to Basildon Hospital with head and back pain."
