The Meadows Shopping Centre has announced the winners of their Shop for Schools competition.

Highwood Primary School has come top of the leader board and were the smallest school taking part in the campaign, winning £500 of free equipment and Barnes Farm infant School were in second place, winning £100 worth of free equipment for pupils to use within classes at school.

Pupils and parents have had the opportunity to gain points for their favourite school to give them the chance of winning these fantastic prizes simply by collecting tokens for every £10 they spent at the Meadows shops, café and restaurants.

Sue Patel, The Meadows General Manager, said: "It has been lovely to run this initiative at the centre and to see all the enthusiastic parents and pupils making sure their favourite school is in with the best chance of winning.

"We would like to congratulate both of our winners and hope they enjoy using their brand new equipment at their school!"

There were 20 participating schools that were in with the chance of winning the prizes but there could only be one winner.

Kelly Latham-Pearmain, Chair of PTA at Highwood Primary School said: "Everyone at the school is over the moon to have won the Shop for Schools prize and the money is greatly appreciated to go towards valuable equipment for the school and most importantly pupils to enjoy.

"We are only a tiny village school and we would like to thank all the pupils, parents and our local community for jumping on board and helping us get to the top!"

The campaign has received a total of 2,518 votes throughout the duration of the campaign, meaning the shopping centre hit their 2,500 target.
