A SANDON who lost more than two stone in five months after joining a slimming club now hopes to help others.

Tracy Slayman, 48, piled on the pounds after an accident on a friend’s hen do last year left her unable to exercise.

She slipped off some monkey bars during the group's fun session at Danbury Outdoors and badly broke three bones in her right wrist which required surgery to insert a metal plate.

As a keen 'keep fitter', her world turned upside down, she believed that she would never be able to exercise again, nor regain the movement in her wrist. This became a real low point for her, unable to perform the simplest of daily tasks, washing, dressing, preparing food, even walking her two dogs.

After two months and intensive physio for complex regional pain syndrome (a condition caused by major trauma to a limb, resulting in severe swelling, heightened sensitivity and hair growth) Tracy finally returned to her full time job in July 2014.

She continued to struggle throughout the summer and found it difficult to balance a full time job with daily physio and being a wife and mum, so the weight continued to pile on.

She said: "I remember feeling like everything was spiralling out of control and I didn't know what to tackle first, there were plenty of tears and mood swings."

In February this year she decided to take control of her life and joined Slimming World, resulting in an impressive 2st 3lb loss in just five months.

She also increased her activity at local gym, Elms Personal Fitness and lost 28.5 inches from her arms, chest, waist, hips and thighs, as well as reducing her body fat from 39 per cent to 27 per cent.

She said: "I feel on top of the world, firmly back in control of me, my life and ready to make significant change for the future.

"I’m really excited about helping both existing and new members to achieve their own goals and realise their dreams.”

She has now decided to become a consultant to help others achieve their goals.

The Galleywood group will re-launch on Wednesday, October 14, at 7.30pm at St Michaels Junior School.
