A CHELMSFORD bowls club which was once targeted by arsonists is holding an open day.
The Lionmede Bowls Club, in Springfield Road, is hoping to recruit new members and is holding an open day to give the public the chance to try their hand at the game.
The refurbished clubhouse, which was restored by Chelmsford Council after the arson attack in March 2014, will be open and refreshments will be available all day.
Bowls coaches will be on hand and all equipment will be provided although visitors are asked to wear flat soled shoes.
New and experienced bowlers are welcome.
Visit the club on Saturday, May 14, between 11am and 4pm.
