Oyez, oyez, oyez! Chelmsford's town crier Tony Appleton has unofficially rung in the Queen's 90th birthday outside Windsor Castle.

Decked out in his red and gold uniform, Mr Appleton proudly stood outside the castle as the Queen walked past - and was even able to briefly speak to Her Majesty.

Mr Appleton, of Baddow Road, Great Baddow, previously made headlines around the world when he aproudly announced the safe birth of Prince George in 2013 after getting past palace security to the steps of St Mary’s Hospital in London.

He repeated the feat in 2015, when he announced the birth of Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana while standing on the steps of the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, this time with the royal couple's blessing.
