Roadworks are due to start tonight on the A130 bypass A127-A12 Rayleigh to Rettendon section.

Essential embankment works are scheduled to last about 16 weeks, starting on Tuesday, 3 May.

One night’s preparatory works for the scheme are planned for Thursday, April 28.

A section of the road will be completely closed late on Thursday, April 28, for the installation of concrete barriers to ensure the safety of the workforce and road users.

In order to minimise disruption and limit the amount of traffic to be diverted, the works to install the barriers will be undertaken between 8.30pm Thursday, 28 April and 6am Friday, 29 April, when traffic volumes are at their lowest.

Traffic will be diverted northbound from Rayleigh Spur Roundabout south of the A127 through Fairglen Interchange (A1245/A127) via the A1245 Battlesbridge Bypass.

Works to install additional drainage and stabilise the upper surface of the embankment will be carried out during daytime.

There will be some off-peak one lane closures as required between 10am – 3:30pm, to enable deliveries to site.

The scheme is being carried out by CountyRoute, who are responsible on behalf of Essex County Council for the operation and maintenance of the A130.
