A BAND formed by two bothers and their friend has released a new EP featuring their debut single.

The Velettes was formed by James Prudence, 30, and his brother John, 23, both from Chelmsford, and their friend David Burgess, 31 from Shenfield, at the end of 2014.

Following the new release of their debut single Wild Flowers, which will feature on their new Colour Studies EP, the band are looking forward to their first five date tour of the UK

James said: "We've been playing gigs in and around London for the past year or so; including at Chelmsford's Fling Festival and The Brentwood Festival.

"We also got invited to play Mike Joyce from The Smiths' club night at Proud Camden and had the launch of our debut single at legendary club night Blow Up.

"We are really excited to get the chance to get out and play to people in other parts of the country with the release of our EP.

"It's especially exciting when one of the dates is at one of the most iconic venues in the country; The Cavern Club in Liverpool, and we'll also be launching the EP with a set at This Feeling in London."

The band cites bands The Velvet Underground, Cocteau Twins and French impressionist Aldophe Vallete as their influences and look forward to sharing their unique styles with fans during their tour.

James added: "We've been completely off doing our own thing, and whilst its still very early days, the reaction from people who are discovering our music has been fantastic, so we are really looking forward to the opportunity to play to some new faces on tour.
