LONDON Marathon runners helped raise more than £150,000 for a worthy cause.

Of the 58 participants who made up #TeamFarleigh during the gruelling Marathon in April, 25 were Chelmsford residents.

Joined by other runners from Dunmow and surrounding areas, the group raised £157,018 for the Farleigh Hospice, a charity that provides care for those with life-limiting illnesses.

A spokesman for the charity thanked all who participated.

He said: "Since 1993, London Marathon runners have run over 26,000 miles and raised in excess of £2million for Farleigh, which has gone a long way towards helping people affected by life limiting illness in mid Essex.

"A huge thanks goes to all members of #TeamFarleigh for their commitment over the last year."

All of the runners received certificates and plaques to commemorate their achievement and dedication, during a celebration evening on Friday July 1.
