THESE are the scenes from Home Sense's grand opening this morning (July 28), as the homeware giant opened its first store in Chelmsford.

Shoppers lined the pavement from the early hours of the morning to be the first into the homeware-for-less superstore in the Riverside Retail Park. 

To mark the store launch, Councillor Patricia Hughes cut the ribbon a ribbon to declare the store officially open shortly before 10am. 

Bringing 40 new jobs to Chelmsford, the 18,624sq. ft store holds a range of different items for every room of the home.

kitchen and gourmet cookware, furniture and lighting, decorative items, wall art, bedding and bathroom accessories, gifts and seasonal décor are just some of the goods on sale. 

Speaking before the grand opening, a spokesperson for HomeSense said: “We are delighted to be opening our first store in Chelmsford, which will be our 43rd in the UK and to be creating 40 new jobs within the local community”.
