Summer of activities to promote cycling

GET on your bike and make the most of the summer in Chelmsford.

Chelmsford City Council has organised a number of free activities to encourage people to use or get back on to two wheels.

A series of free bike rides inspired by the Olympics, which vary in length and duration, will allow you to progress from week to week.

They are being held on: * Green Ride: Thursday, July 5, at 11am (40 minutes).

* Yellow Ride: Thursday, July 19, at 11am (one hour).

* Blue Ride: Saturday, July 28, at 11am. Family ride (up to two hours).

* Black Ride: Thursday, August 2, at 7pm (just over two hours).

The meeting point is at the main entrance of Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre, in Victoria Road, Chelmsford.

For more information, call Richard Monk on 01206 506412 or 07717 724089.

Other recreational rides will be held on a weekly basis.

For more experienced cyclists and regular commuters who want to refresh their bike riding skills on the road, there will be a series of free training courses with experienced instructors.

These will focus on dealing with all types of road conditions and more challenging situations.

For more details or to book a place on either of the rides or courses, e-mail sportmad@chelmsford.gov.uk or call 01245 606978.
