POLICE hope releasing a CCTV image showing a suspected thief will lead to his arrest.

Cash was stolen from the Saracen’s Head hotel, High Street, Chelmsford, shortly before 4.30am, on Wednesday, July 11.

A guest, who had been staying at the premises for several days, was captured on hotel CCTV when a three-figure sum from reception went missing, before he left.

PC Marcus Baker said: “The man gave hotel staff false details so we’re at a loss at the moment as to who he is.

“We have obtained this very good CCTV image of him and hope someone can provide us with a name.”

It is thought the man has travelled through Suffolk, Kent, Sussex and London, as well as Essex, since the start of July.

Anyone with information can call Chelmsford police on 101.
