Princess Anne made a surprise visit to Brentwood on Thursday afternoon.
The Princess Royal flew into the town on her helicopter with Lord Petre, Lord-Lieutenant of Essex and the Queen's official representative in the county.
During her trip she visited Brentwood School, the Baytree Shopping Centre and Save The Children charity shop in the High Street.
The Royal's trip to Brentwood meant an impromptu helipad had to be made up at the school's cricket pitch, something for which she thanked headteacher Ian Davies.
