Council tax freeze for Brentwood

Residents in Brentwood will have their Council Tax frozen for the next financial year.

On Tuesday Brentwood Council voted through the 2013/14 budget which will see the tax stay the same for the next 12 months.

Council leader Louise McKinlay has also announced her intention to freeze the tax again for 2014/15 and reduce it in 2015/16.

The budget has come under heavy criticism from opposition councillors, with group leaders pointing at rising council housing rents and £477,000 being taken from the authority's reserves.
