AN OVERGROWN walkway has been entered into a gardening competition in protest over how it is maintained.
Julie Morrissey, Brentwood councillor for Brentwood South, has submitted the weed-strewn path between Tower Hill and Weald Road into the annual Brentwood in Bloom competition.
The Labour representative has taken the unusual step to highlight the state of the walkway and others like it around the borough.
Ms Morrissey said: “I am a huge fan of Brentwood In Bloom, it brings great joy to a lot of people.
“I hope that my entry will raise the profile of the less asthetically pleasing aspects.”
Winners of this year’s competition will be announced on July 7.
