Town's brewers win awards
7:00am Saturday 12th October 2013 in Local news
BREWERS based in Pilgrims Hatch have picked up two regional awards.
The Brentwood Brewing Company bagged silver prizes at the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) awards after judges were impressed with their Lumberjack and Brentwood Gold drinks.
Both beers beat several rivals in their categories following a blind tasting was held to consider the products’ flavour, aroma, condition and drinkability.
Brentwood Gold won silver in the East of England bottled bitters under 5 per cent category, while Lumberjack got the prize in the bottled bitters over 5 per cent section.
Picking up the awards for the company was head brewer Sophie de Ronde who said it was “fantastic” to be recognised by such a prestigious body.
She added: “Results like these build on the brewery’s growing reputation for making good quality, craft beers and confirms our position within the industry.
“We’re up there with the best of the region’s brewers.”
The company recently moved from South Weald to Pilgrims Hatch.
