FED-UP residents of a Brentwood street want employees of a financial firm to stop parking outside their homes.

People living along Honeypot Lane are angry over the amount of cars parked along the road by staff from International Financial Data Services based nearby in London Road.

Fears have been raised over the safety of crossing and driving down the street, which has no parking restrictions, when the cars are left there.

Minor accidents involving cars and pedestrians have already happened which many feel is down to the cars parking situation.

A petition was set up by Mark Phillips, 55, signed by homeowners from the lane and the adjoining Weald Close before being handed over to the company.

Mr Phillips said: “It is causing a lot of aggravation along here.

“We have had one accident down here which was minor but shows how dangerous it can become with all the cars parked here.

“There is one woman who lives on the lane who is 98 and has to put cones out now by her house so she can guarantee a space for her relatives or carers.

“We all understand the workers are not technically doing something that is illegal, but we do think the situation needs to be reviewed.”

A spokesman for IFDS said as well as parking spaces at the offices, employees also have access to 200 parking permits for an NCP car park.

The added: “Our conversations with local police have confirmed that any cars parked on Honeypot Lane, Weald Close or Hill Road are not parkedg illegally.

“However, we do understand the safety concerns raised by the residents of these roads and do not endorse our employees parking there, as we have fully funded parking options available.”
