A CHRISTMAS shopping evening held in Fryerning raised £6,000 for charities.
Lucy Whittaker, of Pine Drive, Ingatestone, organised the bash at Fryerning Village Hall to raise cash for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Ehlers-Danlos Support UK.
Her two daughters Emily, 15, and Annabel, 12, suffer from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a debilitating tissue disorder, with both having been treated at the hospital in London.
Stalls sold items such as clothing, jewellery and confectionary during the night.
An auction was also held with lots including sports memorabilia signed by Olympic gold medalist Jessica Ennis and cricket legend Graham Gooch.
